Erik's flying colours

It is all about colors...

Also check

Arnaud's video for finishing the corners of the last layer.

Step 6: Finish the corners of the last layer

The third step of the last layer is to finish the corners.

Again you can also watch the video from Arnaud on the right.

Again as you might have guess you only need one algorithm.

The algorithm

The algorithm that you will need for putting the corners at the correct place is a bit more complicated than the ones before. But if you managed untill here I'm sure you will be able to solve the whole cube.
The algorithm for the corners is:
R'FR' B2 RF'R' B2 R2 note that this applet only shows how to perform the algorithm.

How to use this

There is a simple rule you must follow. You have to find 2 opposite corners that are next to eachoter. What I mean with that is that 2 corners are next to eachoter but both have an opposite colour.
You might want to know what opposite colous are then. For that you must analyse your cube. On most cubes the white and yellow centres are opposite to eachoter. That is why yellow/white (think of light) are opposite, the other 2 pairs are red/orange (the colour of fire) and blue/green (earth). Of course this can be different on your cube.
(Note that the only possible pairs are now fire and earth. The light cubes are already on the top and bottom of your cube.)

Now look at the picture, there are 2 opposite corners on the front of the cube. This is what you want. There opposite corners somewhere. If not, then your corners are probably already solved.

If you have 2 opposite corners on the front side (like on the picture) you will have to do the algorithm (R'FR' B2 RF'R' B2 R2). You will see that it is build up in 3 parts. The R'FR' trick, the B2, then the RF'R' trick, then B2 and finally an R2 to finish. It's best and easiest to learn this algorithm in those groups.

Again sometimes you have to do this twice (this is the maximum, after 3 times you probably made a small mistake in positioning the opposite corners).

Here you see 2 applets, sadly they automatically also solve edges, of course you don't always have this luck.

As you see
sometimes you have to
do a U move first

And sometimes you have
to do it twice
